Last week of school News- 6/10-6/13

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”

Dear Families,

Happy last week of First Grade!  The countdown to summer has officially begun in Room 10 and we are so excited for all of the fun things we have planned this week. This time is always so bittersweet for Julie and I as we reflect on and celebrate all of our students’ amazing accomplishments and progress, but also prepare to say goodbye to these wonderful little people.  We can’t say enough about how proud we are of all these kids and what an absolute pleasure it has been getting to know and teach them this year!

We also want to say Thank you to everyone for all of your amazing support in Room 10 this year! Whether it was center volunteering, field trip driving, party organizing, and much, much more, we feel incredibly fortunate for and appreciative of your generosity, participation, and kindness. ·      Open House is on Thursday, June 6th from 6:00-7:00pm.
·      Remember to order next year's school supplies online at http://www.1stdayschoolsupplies.com. The teachers have worked with 1st Day School Supplies to put together kits with the exact supplies we need for next year. They will arrive at Edna before the 1st day of school so you can shop now and forget about it! Prices are competitive. I highly recommend doing this for your child. As a teacher, I love getting these supplies early and having the ability to set everything up before the kids arrive. As a parent, knowing that we are one of the last schools to return to this area I love not having to go to the store when everything is already sold out! Plus – it’s a great way to support our PTA!

News for the week of May 20-25

Dear Room 10 Families,

The Community Projects last week were wonderful! We were able to video tape each presentation and uploaded it to SeeSaw for you to see. You can also download it from there if you want to keep it. We are so proud of our amazing first graders!  We hope you enjoyed this project as well!

This week we are finishing up our math unit on Fractions where we have been focusing on quarters, thirds and halves. We have started to talk about time and will be learning time to the hour and half hour.  We are continuing our ocean unit to study the deep ocean this week! We can't wait to show you everything we have been working on!

OPEN HOUSE: Please mark your calendars, Open House is Thursday, June 6 from 6-7pm. Though it is hard to believe the wrap up for school is upon us, we only have 20 days of school left. We have so thoroughly enjoyed working with and supporting your children on their first grade journey. And we are so grateful to each of you for your support both in and outside the classroom. Your kids have accomplished so many things this year and have all grown academically, physically, emotionally, and socially. We have become such a tight knit group of learners that we want to make sure to celebrate and honor this special year. The kids are working hard on many special projects, which they are so excited to share with you. Please plan to come in and check out all the incredible work your First Grader has done this year! Siblings and extended family are welcome. Your
first grader will be your tour guide!
